A new Bangkok to Phu Quoc air link will open on 8 August 2026, giving travellers a direct daily option between Thailand and Vietnam. The route will be operated by Sun PhuQuoc Airways, the Vietnamese airline announced by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).
Fast regional access
The flight time is expected to be just one hour and 20 minutes. That makes Bangkok to Phu Quoc one of the more convenient short-haul connections in Southeast Asia for travellers who want to move quickly from a city break to a beach stay.
The new service should make two-stop holidays easier to organise. Visitors can spend time in lively Bangkok and then continue straight to the sandy shores of the Vietnamese island without a long transfer.
What the airline is expanding
Sun PhuQuoc Airways began commercial operations in November 2025. The carrier uses a modern fleet of Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft. The new Bangkok to Phu Quoc flights are an important step in the airline’s expansion in the Asian market.
TAT said the extra service will give travellers more choice and more flexible travel times. It will also add to an existing network that already connects six Vietnamese cities with Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket.
Why the route matters
Thai and Vietnamese tourism officials see strong potential in the connection. Vietnam remains one of Thailand’s key short-haul markets, and the latest figures underline that demand.
From January to the beginning of July 2026, Thailand welcomed more than 300,000 Vietnamese visitors. Officials expect that number to rise to nearly 690,000 by the end of the year. Daily direct flights are expected to support that target.
For travellers, the practical effect is simple: fewer connections, a shorter journey and a smoother way to combine the two destinations in one trip.
