EVA Air flights add easier Thailand access via Taipei

EVA Air flights via Taipei improve access to Thailand, with onward connections to Bangkok, Phuket and Chiang Mai from June 2026.

EVA Air flights from Washington to Taipei now give travellers a more convenient long-haul option for reaching Thailand, with onward connections to Bangkok, Phuket and Chiang Mai.

EVA Air flights have added a new long-haul option for reaching Thailand through Taipei. For international travellers, the route creates a more comfortable connection point on the way to Southeast Asia, especially for those heading to Bangkok, Phuket or Chiang Mai.

What the new service changes

The new Washington–Taipei service started at the end of June 2026. It is operated by Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners and runs four times a week. The flight from Washington to Taipei takes about 15-16 hours, after which passengers can continue on to Thailand with a shorter onward leg.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand, or TAT, welcomed the new EVA Air flights as a useful addition for travellers looking for a smoother journey rather than simply the fastest possible one.

Better access to key Thai destinations

EVA Air already has a strong network inside Thailand. It operates up to 32 flights a week on the Taipei–Bangkok route, and travellers can also choose direct services to Chiang Mai and to Phuket.

That makes the Taipei transfer practical for a wide range of holiday plans. Bangkok works well for city breaks and stopovers, Phuket for beach travel, and Chiang Mai for northern Thailand stays.

Why TAT sees this as a strategic fit

The new EVA Air flights also match TAT’s current tourism strategy. The authority is focusing on quality rather than sheer visitor numbers, with an emphasis on longer stays, wellness travel and local cuisine.

In that context, a comfortable connection can matter as much as route length. Travellers who value fewer disruptions and a smoother long-haul experience may find the Washington–Taipei option useful when planning a trip to Thailand.

For visitors, the practical takeaway is simple: Taiwan now offers an easier transfer point for reaching Thailand, with several important destinations already well connected once they arrive in Taipei.
