InterPride 2026 Phuket will bring the world’s top Pride forum to Asia for the first time, with the six-day conference scheduled for 26–31 October 2026 and expected to draw 200 to 400 participants.

InterPride 2026 Phuket is a landmark for Thailand and for Asia: Phuket has been chosen to host the InterPride World Conference 2026, the most important global forum for Pride organisations. It will be the first time the event takes place in Asia.

A first for Asia

The decision underlines Thailand’s growing profile as a country seen as open, safe and welcoming to everyone. Organisers say the selection also reflects Thailand’s stronger role in human rights in Asia.

The winning bid came from Bangkok Pride, the Foundation for SOGI Rights and Justice (FOR-SOGI), and Phuket Pride (Andaman Power Association). Their joint proposal beat the Indian bid.

What the conference will include

The conference is scheduled for 26–31 October 2026, and 200 to 400 participants from around the world are expected to attend in Phuket. Online broadcasts will also be available for people who cannot be there in person.

The six-day programme will include panels, workshops, networking sessions, and presentations of Thai culture. Special InterPride’s Trans Caucus and BIPOC Caucus events are also planned.

With more than 400 organisations worldwide taking part, the gathering is designed to help delegates exchange experience and build cooperation across the international Pride movement.

Why the choice matters for Thailand

Bangkok Pride co-founder Chumaporn Taengkliang called the decision a major step forward not only for Pride, but for the whole of Asia.

The announcement also comes alongside important legal changes in Thailand. The country has introduced a same-sex marriage law, and the government is working on rules for legal gender recognition as well as protections for sex workers.

FOR-SOGI lawyer Naiyana Supaphueng said the conference could help speed up further reforms and open discussion on full equality, including laws that still restrict the rights of same-sex couples.

Phuket’s wider appeal

For Phuket, the selection reinforces its image as a destination ready for events on a global scale. The island has long attracted visitors from around the world with its welcoming atmosphere, hospitality culture, and lively nightlife.

Organisers expect strong international media attention, which could also benefit the local economy and strengthen the island’s position as a centre for tourism and social inclusion. In that sense, InterPride 2026 Phuket is more than a conference: it is a symbolic moment for the island, Thailand, and the wider region.
