Pattaya road safety is back in focus after the family of 15-year-old Tommy Boulangers asked police in Chonburi to advance a case that still has not led to an arrest, seven months after a fatal crash.
What happened in Nong Prue
According to the details cited in the case, Tommy was riding a Honda PCX motorcycle on 20 February in Nong Prue, Bang Lamung district. A pickup reversing from a restaurant area entered his path. He suffered severe injuries and later died in hospital.
The case was recorded on 2 March as road accident case number 7/2569. The name Wang Xian appears in the materials as being connected to the police investigation. The family says that, despite an arrest warrant being issued, the suspect has still not been brought before the court.
Why the family returned to police
On Wednesday, Tommy’s mother, Vipawee, went to Chonburi provincial police headquarters with her Swedish husband and a representative of the Sai Mai Must Survive group. She brought a photo of her son and asked senior officers to check on the progress of the investigation.
She also requested that efforts to locate the person covered by the warrant be accelerated. Lieutenant Colonel Settha Maklon, head of the provincial investigative division, received the complaint and said it would be forwarded to the provincial police commander for further instructions.
Costs and paperwork add pressure
The family says the costs linked to treatment and the consequences of the crash have exceeded 1.2 million baht. They also face administrative problems, because some reimbursement and compensation documents require the other side’s signature.
That makes the case about more than one road crash. It also shows how a fatal traffic incident can leave families dealing with both grief and a slow administrative process long after the emergency phase has passed.
