A flood alert in Phetchabun disrupted Lom Sak after heavy rain fell overnight and sent water into homes on Saturday morning. About 300 households had to leave their houses as the Pasak River overflowed and spread across parts of the municipality.
Rescue teams began moving residents to safer ground as soon as the water entered the built-up area. No injuries were reported, but the speed of the flooding made the situation a serious local disruption.
Worst-hit areas along the river
The hardest-hit communities were in tambon Pak Chong, where runoff from mountain slopes fed the river and flooded nearby buildings. The flood alert also covered several settlements in Lom Sak municipality, with water reaching parts of Tan Diao and Nong Khwai.
Authorities said the Pasak River reached 8.56 metres, which was 26 centimetres above bank level. In one area, a power pole near a canal tilted dangerously low over the ground, underlining the infrastructure risks that can follow sudden flooding.
Officials keep crews ready
The district chief of Lom Sak said the water level in tambon Pak Chong had started to fall. He also said local administrations must keep staff and equipment ready around the clock, because conditions can change quickly if more rain arrives.
People living along the river and its tributaries were told to keep checking water levels and follow local announcements closely. In practice, that means responding quickly to new instructions and avoiding travel into flooded zones.
