TAGTHAi Easy Pay: Thailand’s cashless tool for visitors

TAGTHAi Easy Pay lets visitors use QR payments, card-free ATM withdrawals and tourist passes in Thailand’s official app.

TAGTHAi Easy Pay is the key feature of TAGTHAi for visitors who want to pay by phone in Thailand, use QR codes, withdraw cash without a card and manage tourist passes in one official app.

Thailand is moving quickly toward cashless payments, with blue PromptPay QR codes now visible in many places. For visitors without a Thai bank account, that used to be a barrier. TAGTHAi Easy Pay changes that by letting foreign users pay through an official government-backed app.

How TAGTHAi Easy Pay works

TAGTHAi Easy Pay is the main tool for travellers who want to pay by phone, even at very small street food stalls. The app generates your own QR code, which you then use to pay the merchant’s displayed code for the exact amount due, without searching for coins or notes.

The virtual wallet works with Kasikorn Bank, also known as KBank, and the funds are authorised by the state. That combination is the core of TAGTHAi Easy Pay and the reason it is presented as a safer, simpler option for cashless spending in Thailand.

If you still need cash, the app also supports withdrawals from green KBank ATMs without a card. In that case, the machine screen code is scanned through the app, so you can get baht even when your wallet stays in your pocket.

TAGTHAi passes for sightseeing

TAGTHAi is more than a payment app. It also works as a ticketing system through a range of passes that bundle attractions and discounts.

  • The Bangkok Pass includes river cruises, temple entry and access to the MahaNakhon observation deck.
  • The Phuket & Chiang Mai Pass offers discounts at luxury beach clubs and free massages at top spa salons.
  • The Dining Pass is designed for food lovers and allows tasting menus at top restaurants at a fixed, low price.

For travellers planning a city stay or island break, these options can reduce the cost and complexity of individual bookings.

Getting started and topping up

Setting up TAGTHAi Easy Pay is straightforward, but it does require KYC security checks. The app is available in the App Store and Google Play under the name TAGTHAi.

Registration can be done with an email address or a Google account. You then need to photograph your passport and take a short selfie. The system verifies the data within a few minutes.

To add money, you can transfer funds using a credit card, such as Revolut, or top up at KBank currency exchange points at the airport. Once that is done, your Easy Pay balance is ready to use.

Safety and extra tools

TAGTHAi also includes practical features intended to support visitors during a trip. A SOS button connects directly to the Tourist Police, VAT Refund helps track purchases and supports tax refund processing at the airport before departure, and free Wi-Fi codes may appear for AIS or TrueMove data packages.

For many visitors, the main benefit of TAGTHAi Easy Pay is convenience. Registration takes a little time, but the ability to pay by QR code can simplify everyday spending across Thailand. The app is best installed before departure if you want to arrive prepared.
