Thai Airways is expanding Zürich Bangkok flights for the 2027 winter peak, adding extra services, a new Dreamliner rotation and more choice for long-haul passengers.
Thai Airways is preparing a notable winter update on one of its key Europe–Thailand routes. The airline will increase capacity between Zurich and Bangkok from 16 January to 29 March 2027, giving long-haul passengers more departure options during the busiest travel period.
More Zürich Bangkok flights in peak season
For this period, the carrier will move from daily service to 11 flights per week on Zürich Bangkok flights. That means travellers should find it easier to secure seats on dates that match holiday plans, business trips or onward connections in Thailand.
The change also signals that Thai Airways is targeting stronger demand from Europe during the winter season. In practical terms, more seats usually improve availability, especially on a route where direct services are often closely watched by price-sensitive travellers.
Which aircraft will operate the route
The additional four weekly services will be flown by the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which carries 296 passengers. The existing daily flights will continue to be operated by the larger Boeing 777-300.
For passengers, the split fleet means the same route will be served by two different long-haul aircraft types. That can matter for seat layout preferences, cabin choice and overall booking flexibility, even when the schedule remains straightforward.
Days, times and flight duration
Thai Airways has set the extra flights for Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Departures from Bangkok to Zurich are scheduled at 12:05, with return flights from Switzerland leaving at 20:00 on the same days.
The nonstop journey takes about 11.5 to 12 hours. For many travellers, that makes it a direct alternative to itinerary-based travel with connections, particularly when time and convenience are priorities.
What it could mean for fares
The airline’s competition with SWISS may also support more favourable ticket prices. The average round-trip economy fare is currently about 1,030 dollars.
That figure is not a guarantee of future pricing, but it gives a useful benchmark for travellers comparing winter options. For anyone planning a Thailand trip during the peak season, the new schedule offers a clearer picture of when more seats may be available.
